Professor German qualified from the University of Bristol in 1994 and spent two years in mixed practice before returning to Bristol to undertake a PhD, and then a residency in small animal internal medicine. He moved to the University of Liverpool in 2002 where he is currently the Royal Canin Professor of Small Animal Medicine. His clinical and research interests include gastroenterology and comparative obesity biology.
