After earning a PhD in Psychology from the University of South Florida, Dr. Gee was promoted through to Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York, where she began research into human-animal interactions, focusing on preschool children. She served as Human-Animal Interaction Research Manager for the Waltham Petcare Science Institute for five years before moving on to her current position at VCU, where she is Director of the Center for Human-Animal Interaction and Professor of Psychiatry and Bill Balaban Chair in Human-Animal Interaction.
