Dr Decaro graduated in veterinary medicine from the University of Bari and obtained his PhD degree at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases of Animals in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bari. He is Associate Editor for the Journal of Virological Methods, a member of the editorial boards for several international journals, and author or co-author of many papers published in international journals. His main research interests are viral infections of carnivores and ruminants.
