After graduating in 1996 Dr. Nijsse spent several years working in small animal practice and then taught veterinary technicians. After seven years he was appointed as a tutor and researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Utrecht, and obtained his PhD in nematode epidemiology in 2016. As chairman of ESCCAP Benelux he is actively involved in constructing sound advice for controlling parasitic infections in companion animals.
